Music Workshops, Songwriting, & Family Jams at Camp Coletrain
Join us for Camp Coletrain at Smalltown! Two mornings of music-making, creativity, and community in the heart of Salida, powered by Coletrain Music Academy and Bonfire Entertainment. Whether you're a budding young musician, an aspiring songwriter, or a family looking to connect through music, these workshops are designed to inspire and engage all ages.
Workshops will take place on Friday, September 19 & Saturday, September 20, with some special programming on September 18. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to deepen your musical and creative expression, these workshops offer a fun, welcoming, and memorable way to connect through music.
Activities include a Kids Music Workshop (ages 6-12), a Seed to Song Songwriting workshop (ages 13+), a family jam & more! Free registration, available soon.
MUSIC EDUCATION

WORKSHOPS
What: 2-Day Music Camp taking place at Smalltown, Sept. 19-20 (with some special programming on September 18)
Who: Kids ages 6-12, plus teens and adults!
Details: Professional instruction, applied instrument workshops and a teacher led jam session and sing-a-long. Students 13+ can register for "Seed to Song" - a songwriting course led by David Lawrence.

Each morning from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, kids ages 6–12 can take part in hands-on music instruction in a fun, supportive setting. Young musicians will explore instruments like fiddle, bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele, guided by professional instructors from Coletrain Music Academy.

At the same time, students ages 13 and up can dive into creative expression through songwriting in our Seed to Song workshop, led by acclaimed musician and educator David Lawrence. This workshop will focus on storytelling, lyric writing, and musical arrangement in an inspiring group setting.

To top it off, we’ll gather at the Cottonwood Stage from 1:30–2:00 PM each day for a Family Jam, where kids can apply what they've learned and everyone—parents, siblings, and friends—is invited to sing, play, and participate.
